Government keeps petrol diesel prices unchanged for January 2026. The Government of Pakistan has announced that petrol and high‑speed diesel (HSD) prices will remain unchanged until the end of January 2026, in the latest fortnightly fuel price review. According to an official notification from the Petroleum Division, petrol will continue to be sold at Rs. 253.17 per litre and diesel at Rs. 257.08 per litre from January 16 through January 31.
The decision comes despite expectations of possible price adjustments following global oil market movements and industry forecasts. Authorities said the unchanged rates reflect current market conditions and recommendations from relevant regulatory bodies. Including the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). In the coming days, authorities are expected to release the next fuel price schedule based on updated global crude trends and domestic economic indicators.

While fuel prices remain steady, some officials have also approved a petroleum levy increase. Effectively offsetting potential consumer relief that could have come from international price drops. Observers say this move may limit immediate cost savings for motorists and transport sectors.
Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are typically reviewed every 15 days. And any changes have a direct impact on transportation costs and daily living expenses, particularly for middle‑ and lower‑income households. The government’s announcement provides short‑term stability for fuel consumers heading into the final weeks of January.
