Officials revealed that the decision was take as part of ongoing efforts to expand electric bus services beyond major cities. And into more regional divisions. The move comes alongside preparations for modern infrastructure. Including the construction of hundreds of bus shelters to support the new fleet. In Multan Division, one of the first areas set to benefit, authorities plan to build 470 bus shelters to support the 114 buses. Which will help ease congestion and reduce pollution while offering a comfortable travel experience to daily passengers.

The rollout is expect to begin in phases, with initial routes being finalize in meetings between transport officials and local administrators. Along with providing better connectivity, the electric buses are seen as an important step toward cleaner urban mobility and a greener future for Punjab’s residents. Authorities have stressed that electric bus services will boost convenience for commuters, improve traffic conditions, and contribute to environmental protection by lowering vehicle emissions compared to traditional diesel buses.
In the first phase, authorities will introduce 45 electric buses on three routes in Multan. In the second phase, they will add 24 more buses on five additional routes. The government has completed the tendering process for 49 bus shelters in Multan City and 87 in the Saddar area.
