PCB Introduced Biomechanics Course

PCB has introduced its first-ever foundational Biomechanics course in Pakistan. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) with support from PCB, will host first ever Foundational Biomechanics Course in Pakistan. A programme aimed at bringing modern sports-science techniques into cricket coaching and player development. This course begins from 4th December, 2025 and will run for two days at the NCA. A total of 27 participants are enrolled, among them 11 former or current Test cricketers including names like Wahab Riaz, Salman Butt, Aizaz Cheema and others.

The course will teach the concepts of kinetics and kinematics i.e the science of movement with respect to cricket skills: batting, bowling and fielding. Instructors include expert such as Dr. Mian Muhammad Awais, Dr. Imran Abbas, along with coaches from NCA. The idea is to combine theory and practical application, giving coaches and players tools to refine technique, boost performance and reduce risks of injuries.

For the first time, PCB is formally integrating sports-science and biomechanics into coaching. A big step beyond traditional methods. This reflects a shift toward more scientific, data-driven training for Pakistan cricket. Having experience players in course ensures that the knowledge won’t stay theoretical, its likely to influence coaching, selection, discipline and future training programs. Ultimately, this could help raise the standard of cricket in Pakistan improving technique, longevity, and reducing injuries among players.
