Private schools demand winter timings. Private schools in Karachi have recommended keeping school opening times at 9 am until January 31 following an ongoing cold wave in the city. The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association made the recommendation. Saying that cold weather has affected normal life, particularly in remote districts of Sindh.
The association’s chairman called for an immediate meeting of the Private Schools Steering Committee to decide a new academic calendar. He urged the Sindh education minister to maintain the 9 am opening time for schools until January 31 due to the weather conditions. According to the association, delays in announcing exam-related details could affect planning for schools and students. Private schools have called on education authorities to extend winter school timings, saying the current shortened schedule is affecting academic progress. School administrators argue that limited classroom hours during the winter season make it difficult to complete the syllabus on time.
Private school associations have submitted formal requests to the concerned departments, asking for a review of the winter timetable. They have suggested either increasing daily school hours or adjusting start and closing times to make better use of the day. Education officials have confirmed that the demand is being considered. They said any decision would take into account weather conditions, student health, and academic requirements before changes are made.
