According to officials, the “Digital Empowerment of Rural Women Through IT” program will provide participants with hands-on training in digital literacy, online freelancing, basic IT skills, and remote work opportunities. Women completing the program will be able to work from home or online platforms. Generating income while contributing to household earnings.

According to the program guidelines, applicants must have at least 16 years of education. Only residents of rural Punjab are eligible to apply.
- Eligibility: Women residing in rural Punjab, aged 21 to 40 years.
- Training Duration: 3 months of digital and IT-focused courses.
- Earnings Potential: Up to Rs. 30,000 per month, depending on skills and engagement.
- Support Provided: Laptops, internet access, and mentorship for participants to start freelancing or digital work.
The Punjab government highlighted that this initiative aims to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas and provide women with economic empowerment and independence through online opportunities. “This program is designed to open doors for rural women in the digital economy,” said a spokesperson for the Punjab IT Board. “We want women to gain the skills necessary to earn a sustainable income, without needing to leave their homes.”
Officials encouraged women interested in the program to register online or contact their local union councils for enrollment details. The government also plans to expand the program to additional districts based on its initial success. This initiative is part of Punjab’s larger effort to promote technology adoption, digital literacy, and financial inclusion for women, aligning with Pakistan’s national vision for a digitally empowered society.
