Following the Kahna incident, the Chief Minister of Punjab has approved a new program aimed at making homes secure; titled “Apna Ghar Mehfooz Ghar” (My Home, Safe Home), this initiative has been fully sanctioned by the government.The Chief Minister of Punjab has stated that the government will provide financial assistance to households in Punjab with weak roofs so that they can make their homes safe.
The Chief Minister of Punjab states that “Apna Ghar, Apni Chhat” (Own Home, Own Roof) and “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” (Own Land, Own Home) are major projects, and no negligence of any kind regarding them will be tolerated.
Apna Ghar Mehfooz Ghar Program 2026 Loan
Under the “Safe Home” program, 500,000 rupees will be provided for the renovation and reinforcement of dilapidated, unsafe houses with weak roofs.Under the “Safe House” program, Rs. 1 million will be provided in easy, interest-free installments for constructing a new building level or an additional floor.
Grant for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar
Program “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (My Roof, My Home) program, interest-free loans payable in easy installments have been approved for over 180,000 homeless families. A briefing revealed that loans have already been disbursed to 170,000 families under the initiative. Funds amounting to Rs 2,178 billion have been released for the project, while 27,500 houses across Punjab are currently in the final stages of completion. The briefing further stated that 134,343 houses have been fully completed across the province under the program. Applications were received from more than 1.278 million homeless families for the scheme. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that the second installment of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program be released to the public within three days.
