Currently, the cost to irrigate one acre using diesel is approximately PKR 3,000, while electricity costs around PKR 1,500 per acre. However, with solar energy, this cost will drastically reduce to just PKR 50 per acre, significantly lowering the overall expenses for farmers.

In addition to this initiative, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed the preparation of a special package for vegetable farmers. This package aims to establish a sustainable supply management system for essential vegetables such as tomatoes and onions. The Chief Minister emphasized the commitment to resolve the issue of expensive electricity by providing solar panels to farmers, which will reduce production costs and enhance farmers’ prosperity, thereby ensuring the prosperity of Punjab.
