Govt of Pakistan Announces Eid-ul-Azha 2026 Breaking News The Cabinet Division of Pakistan has officially announced three public holidays across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. According to a notification issued on May 20, 2026, the Prime Minister approved public holidays on May 26, 27, and 28, 2026, corresponding to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The notification was released by the Government of Pakistan through the Cabinet Secretariat Cabinet Division in Islamabad. The decision was made in continuation of the earlier circular regarding public and optional holidays for the year 2026.

The announcement confirms that government offices, educational institutions, and many public sector departments are expected to remain closed during the Eid holidays. The Cabinet Division also directed the Press Information Department to ensure wide publicity of the notification through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media.

The official notice was signed by Cabinet Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal, while copies of the notification were forwarded to federal ministries, provincial governments, judiciary offices, security institutions, and other important departments across Pakistan.

Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant Islamic occasions celebrated nationwide with religious devotion, animal sacrifices, family gatherings, and charitable activities.

Citizens are now expected to begin travel and holiday preparations as the extended break may create heavy traffic on highways, bus terminals, and railway stations across the country.
