In Rawalpindi, Jamaat-e-Islami’s negotiation committee, led by Liaqat Baloch, presented a 10-point demand to the government, which includes the removal of the Petroleum Development Levy. The key demands include a 50% reduction in electricity bills for consumers using up to 500 units per month and the immediate rollback of the recent petroleum price hikes. Additionally, Jamaat-e-Islami has called for a 20% reduction in the prices of essential goods and the removal of taxes on stationery and other items related to children’s education and training.
Jamaat-e-Islami also criticized the lavish spending of the elite, deeming it intolerable for the public, and demanded a 35% cut in non-development expenditures. They urged the government to end the capacity payment and dollar-based agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The party also requested a 50% reduction in the undue tax burden on agriculture and industry, emphasizing the need to boost industry, trade, and investment to drive the economy and create jobs for the youth.

Lastly, Jamaat-e-Islami insisted on alleviating the oppressive tax burden on the low-income salaried class and advocated for tax collection from the privileged class.
