Benefits of the ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ Scheme

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s House and was attended by various key stakeholders, including Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, Minister Dr. Amjad Ali Khan, and senior officials from the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber.

According to the government’s press release, the scheme is expected to cost approximately PKR 4 billion, which will be used to extend interest-free loans of up to PKR 1.5 million for low-income individuals. These loans can be utilized for building new homes or expanding and renovating existing ones.

The repayment schedule is designed to be flexible, with the loan period spread across 7 years, and the monthly installments will not exceed PKR 18,000. This initiative, operating under a revolving funds system, will continue for the next 7 years. However, applicants will be required to have ownership of the land for which the loan is sought.

Empowering Low-Income Families

The ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ scheme is a part of the provincial government’s broader vision to enhance social and economic conditions for marginalized communities. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, emphasized that providing quality housing facilities is one of the government’s core priorities.

He stated, “The ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ scheme is an essential part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve the living standards of low-income families. This program will not only provide affordable housing options but will also uplift the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries.”

Additionally, the scheme’s focus is to ensure transparency in the disbursement of loans, ensuring that the financial assistance reaches only those who are genuinely eligible. Gandapur directed the relevant authorities to maintain complete transparency in the entire loan distribution process and ensure the money is directed towards deserving individuals.

A Holistic Approach to Welfare

This initiative is just one of several Ehsaas programs launched by the provincial government aimed at improving the lives of the underprivileged. Other initiatives, including Ehsaas Youth, Ehsaas Skills, and Ehsaas Rozgar, are also part of the government’s wider welfare strategy to tackle unemployment and provide educational and vocational opportunities.

The ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ scheme, by focusing on housing, provides an opportunity for low-income households to invest in a better future, where they can not only have their own homes but also create a foundation for improved economic security.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ scheme is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of low-income families across the province. Through this initiative, the government is not just providing homes, but creating an environment that promotes long-term social and economic development. This is another step towards a more equitable society, ensuring that every individual has access to a decent standard of living.
